You’re a fan of the movie “Billy Madison,” right?
Well if you’re not, that’s clearly because you’re not married to my husband. It’s one of his favorites and I lost count probably a decade ago of how many times he had me watch it with him.
And this is going to be totally random, but it dawned on me that there as some seriously motivational quotes to be pulled from this, and other movies.
“But why do I need motivational quotes?” you ask.
Maybe you don’t. Good for you, honestly.
But sometimes, we all need a little push, a little shove, maybe a little laugh, and the resulting little bit of get-up-and-go that comes from it.
So please, enjoy!
Table of Contents
1) “On with the borophyll!” – Billy Madison
As someone with a Bachelor’s in biology, I’m a big fan of this line.
Because sometimes you have no choice but to just suffer through the crappy stuff to truly understand the magic of this life.
(In other words, learning about chlorophyll in plants is boring, I agree. But it’s kind of amazing how it just all sort of works out alright in the end, isn’t it?)
2) “Stop looking at me, swan!” – Billy Madison
Yes, another one.
If only my children were both named Swan, then this might be an actual sentence to leave my mouth multiple times per day.
The same as how “a watched pot never boils,” and “a rose won’t bloom while you watch,” well, sometimes we all need some time alone to bloom.
Make a point to take better care of yourself, mama, because life is hard enough without losing your marbles every day too.
3) “…there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. So you got to grab it, and you don’t apologize, and you don’t worry about why they’re listening, or how long they’re going to be listening for, you just tell them what you want to say.” – A Star Is Born
Do you know what I love the most about this quote? How very unapologetic it is.
What do I take away from it?
Stop worrying about what everyone else thinks and just be yourself.
Speak your heart, be true to yourself first, and the rest will follow.
4) “Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want.” – 10 Things I Hate About You
Yes, we’re throwing it way back again with this one.
But that’s because for as long as I can remember, I felt like I didn’t deserve what I wanted out of life.
And do you know who made me feel the most like that?
Me.
So here’s to you, here’s a reminder to say that YOU are worth EVERYTHING you could ever want, bar none.
All you have to do is give yourself permission to dream and the rest will be perfect.
5) “…have a life…where you can wake up one morning and say ‘I don’t want anything more.’ ” – Meet Joe Black
Wouldn’t that be heaven?
You don’t need as much as you think you do, and you WILL make your dreams come true someday.
And when that day comes?
It’ll be as beautiful as you.<3
Bev says
There’s a scene in Napoleon Dynamite where his frustrated grandmother tells him, “Make your own quesadilla!”. So anytime someone is making too many demands of me I’m prone to yelling back, Make your own quesadilla! And then I have to go, umm, yeah, that’s from the Napoleon Dynamite movie, lol. Not a lot of deep meaning in that movie quote but it gets the job done!

Haha I love it! ????
I think there’s totally a deep meaning of every so often in life, when you really want something, you have to just dive in and make it yourself! 100% inspirational to me! ❤️
